Meet Dr. Ranjbar

Helping Others, One Person and One Smile at a Time

Hands down, the best part of being an Orthodontist is being in a position where I can truly help when I perceive a need. We believe everyone deserves healthy teeth: not only does Orthodontics create a beautiful smile that improves a person's self-confidence, but properly aligned teeth also improve one's overall health, ultimately delivering a better quality of life.

I've been practicing for over 30 years and I am very aware of how fortunate I am to have had the opportunities that I have been blessed with. Aside from enjoying the technical aspect of the day-to-day experience, I particularly, enjoy the interaction with my staff and patients as they share their life experiences with me, providing for a mutually enriching relationship. The unfiltered, perspective our patients share with us is energizing and at times hilarious. I can learn from each and every patient. They each have unique insights and experiences to share!

Our Team and Office

My co-workers are the FOUNDATION of our practice: I can always count on their professionalism and dedication to excellence. More importantly, I witness every day the love they feel and convey to our patients. Likewise, our patients are an extension of our family and we care about them with the utmost respect and compassion.

When discussing our Team, we can't forget that a few years ago we lost a special team member, Sunshine (our Golden Retriever). She accompanied me to the office almost every day for more than 10 years! She loved her job! Every morning the minute I would reach for reach for my "man purse", she would rush to the front door, ready to go to work and visit her patients! I hope to find another companion in the future ... her Paws will be tough to fill.

Education and Continuing Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology - Pittsburgh State University
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery - University of Missouri, Kansas City - graduated in the Top 5% of the Class
  • Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics - University of Missouri, Kansas
  • City Orthodontic Specialty program

My commitment to knowledge, and the continual refinement of my skills, did not end when I received my certificate. Orthodontics is a constantly evolving specialty with breakneck advances in technology, as such, it is my responsibility to stay current on those changes. Through continuing education, I ensure that I am fully informed of new techniques and technologies, allowing me to provide my patients with the latest in Orthodontic care. The continual attendance of local, regional, and national orthodontic conferences/lectures, allows for me to stay abreast of advances and more importantly sort through facts and Fads. The bottom line, my patients deserve the best care to achieve their best smile: continuing education helps me best meet their needs!

After 10 years of teaching, I recently retired as a part-time faculty member in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City,. I will definitely miss interacting with the orthodontic residents and clinic staff.

BEYOND THE PRACTICE

I lived all over the world when growing up. I was born in Iran and lived there until I was nine. My family then moved to Tanzania, in East Africa, where we lived for four years. We then moved to India for a year and then to the U.S. I graduated from high school in Stow, Ohio, and then moved to California after a year of college I took a break and moved to Las Vegas to work in construction. This experience was both fun and Instructional -  it motivated me to forge ahead by returning to college, first in California and then in Kansas.

For more than 30 years I have lived in Lawrence and now call it my home. In my spare time, I enjoy being with my daughter, lending a hand at the Phoenix Gallery, and tinkering with my '39 Chevy pickup. I also enjoy fishing but, for some reason, have yet to find the best spot!
